DNATA careers in Dubai National Air Transport Association- Head of Taxation
Job Description.
- This position is an independent role leading the UK tax department, but as part of the global tax team, reporting to the Head of Tax for the Emirates Group based in Dubai. Working with UK businesses, the role will oversee all UK taxes, including corporate tax, VAT, TP and employment taxes.
- In this critical role, you will be the key link between the UK business and the central tax team in Dubai, the central group reporting team, and the finance teams in each division on all tax issues. You will also be responsible for providing technical resources.
Job Duties
- Work with the IT team to identify R&D expenses eligible for relief under the RDEC scheme, document appropriate support and prepare and submit RDEC claims.
- Responsible for the timely preparation of UK corporation tax statements for all taxpayer companies in the UK, including liaising with local finance teams, and ensuring that they are filed before the statutory filing deadline (currently around 13 operating companies and 5 holding companies).
- Review the group’s group relief position and manage claims/waivers for tax losses and related payments within the framework of the business units.
- Optimize the Group’s position with respect to corporate profit limitation rules. This includes the preparation and filing of the first CIR return for a given year and reviewing whether any changes need to be made to previous returns (and performing related compliance).
- Preparation of quarterly income tax payment statements, liaising with the finance team to gather forecast data, agreeing the basis of forecast with the regional finance directors, and managing group payment arrangements between entities in the travel sector.
- Corporate Governance.
- Maximising capital allowances for fixed asset expenditure, managing the flow of information between the finance team and external advisors as required.
- Annual presentation of the tax strategy and Board level review of the UK corporate tax strategy.
- Initiate the SAO process and discuss any concerns with the UK Head of Finance. Understand the internal control framework and work with the Head of Finance to put processes in place to ensure problem areas are addressed, as required.
Job Requirements
- Good understanding of the role advisors play and how to best utilize them when working on specific projects.
- Must be IT literate and have good excel skills.
- Ability to identify where tax risks need to be managed and to pursue solutions.
- ACA and/or CTA qualified or equivalent.
- Familiarity with accounting, especially tax accounting, and knowledge of IFRS-based tax accounting principles.
- Knowledge of VAT as it relates to travel is a plus.
- Someone who is confident in the tax knowledge they possess, but is fully aware that their knowledge may be insufficient (and therefore may require external assistance and verification).
- Someone who is confident and proactive in their own work (this is not a job that requires detailed management of advisors).
- Someone who can communicate complex tax issues to a large audience and work with a diverse team.
- Someone who can build strong relationships with and influence senior stakeholders.
- Able to inspire confidence in senior stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of UK corporate tax, VAT, employment tax and a general knowledge of other global tax regimes.
- Excellent commercial understanding and able to identify sensitive tax issues and opportunities.
- Qualifications and Experience
- Experience using Alphatax (all of the Group’s UK CT returns are prepared using Alphatax).
- An excellent tax professional who is self-motivated, able to work with limited supervision, has a good understanding of UK corporate tax legislation and is able to deal with multiple parties on an immediate basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- This position will be based in Muscat, Oman and will be employed under local terms and conditions. OBJECTIVES.
- Job Responsibilities.
- Review prepaid journal entries monthly and towards the end of the year, incorporating appropriate accrual journal entries to accurately reflect revenues and costs.
- Maintain and process the Company’s interim and year-end accounts within the framework of defined International Financial Reporting Standards and contribute to the analysis and preparation of periodic financial statements and management accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
- Verify transactions to ensure that accounting procedures have been followed in accordance with established procedures. This includes reviewing reconciliations of accounting entries. This will help to minimize year-end adjustments. Facilitate corrective actions by various departments prior to the month-end close.
- Reconcile various control accounts such as accounts receivable, prepayments, allowances, taxes, etc.
- Coordinate with other departments to reconcile bank transactions.
- Assist the external audit team in mid-year and year-end programs to explain and revise schedules and groupings required for financial statements. Compile statements/schedules assigned by the section in accordance with the audit timetable; assist in the analysis/justification of differences between current and prior year figures, including roll forward analysis of February figures to substantiate March figures.
- Maintain accounting books by analyzing, classifying, and recording accounting data within the framework of defined international accounting standards/principles and other accounting conventions and concepts to provide accurate financial statements and other management information to external and internal user groups in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
- Familiarity with the use of office automation software, including Excel, Windows, and Word database management and graphical packages for generating various reports.
- Knowledge of current financial reporting and international accounting standards and principles.
- Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to analyze and review a variety of financial statements and reports in detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal management.
- Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified accountant, preferably a CA, with at least 5 years post qualification experience in a similar role.
